Each day, first graders depend on me to teach them how to read, write, and develop problem-solving skills that will be the foundation of their education. These students come from a variety of diverse backgrounds. Their families qualify for free lunch and often do not have the means to provide literature and other educational tools at home. So, I feel it is my role to provide them with rich learning experiences on a day to day basis. Due to their backgrounds and limitations in resources at home, my students often enter elementary school significantly behind their more affluent peers. Despite the hurdles they face, my students are loving, curious, and so invested in growing their minds.
