  • Keep Me Neat At My Seat

    Funded Dec 3, 2019

Students have been enjoying having their own personal seat sacks! It has provided them with space for their materials. They have allowed students to have easy access to their materials. We have gained more time to focus on learning and less trying to gather materials from different areas. They have gained responsibility to care for their materials. They love being able to easily grab a book to read from their seat sack as opposed to waiting to be able to ask to go get a book or material they need.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Imparato

  • Make Reading Great Again

    Funded Feb 4, 2019

Thank you so much for your generosity. Getting new books into our classroom library has been exciting and fun. With these new series that we love, the students are so eager to get their chance to read them. Everyone wants those books!!!

Reading is so fundamental in first grade. We want to create a love and passion for reading. You have helped us do that. With Biscuit, Pete the Cat and so much more! I hope to continue to be able to get even more books that my students will enjoy.

Our thank you is not enough but the smiles are! Once again thank you for helping us create a love for reading!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Imparato

The classroom library is an essential part of our classroom. As a first grade teacher, the job of teaching new readers is challenging, yet so rewarding! I do a lot of read alouds and incorporate a lot of my favorite children’s books. However students read independently in class every single day. Students go book shopping in our library each week and fill up their baggie with books on their level. Students choose these books themselves. So getting new, interesting, engagaing, and fun books will get them even more excited to read. I want to build a love of reading inside them that they can carry on forever. All of the books that I have chose, I believe will get them more excited to read. Students will be able to choose these books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. Most of my students do not have access to fun, interesting, leveled books at home. Most of them do not have someone to read with them at home. They come from non English speaking homes. School is where they will be exposed to reading. So let’s make it count !
