  • Expressing Ourselves Through Play, Art and Stories

    Funded Sep 4, 2024

Thank you for your generous donation. My stundents were so happy when they saw our new materials we unpacked them together!! They have been creating so many wonderful projects and truly are expressing themselves through art and play! Students have also been working on developing their self confidence through art.

The sand tray has been an incredbile outlet for so many students. They have been able to role play and explore different emotions and feelings in a way in which they feel safe and comfortable.

I am so grateful for your support!

    All the best,

    Sarah”

  • Fidget Tools for Emotional Regulation

    Funded Dec 11, 2024

Thank you so much for your generosity. My students are going to be so excited about all of these fidgets and emotional regulation tools. They will get so much use out of them. One of the first things we will do will be to make mindfulness jars. Thank you so much for your continued support.”

  • Expressing Ourselves Through Therapeutic Art and Play

    Funded Sep 3, 2023

Thank you so much for your generosity. My student's have been creating such amazing art using clay, model magic and watercolors. From creating strength statements using watercolors to making their own creatures and using legos to create worlds and model different situations. The students are able to express so many feelings and grow their confidence through art and play using all of these fabulous materials. Using art and play allows my students to express themselves in a safe and comfortable way.”

  • Calming Kits for All Classes

    Funded Aug 26, 2022

The resources that we received thanks to your generosity have been so helpful. I was able to distribute calming kits to teachers throughout the building. Calming Kits include the sensory toys and stuffed animals which students find comfort in and release when using . Students are able to independently use these tools to self regulate because the calming kits are in classrooms calm corners.

In the counseling office students are also able to independently access these materials to self regulate, and seeing the smile and joy on students faces as they reach for a fidget, sensory toy or stuffy has been wonderful to

    witness.”

  • All the Feels

    Funded Aug 23, 2021

Thank you so much for your incredible generosity. It is beyond amazing to have this wonderful library of books to help my students identify and express their emotions and teach concrete coping skills to help manage emotions.

Sometimes we will read one of the books in our session and then practice one of the coping skills. Students have voluntarily made lists and menus of coping skills they want to try or feel like might work for them.

I think the biggest gift of these books is for my students to understand that they are not alone when they are having big feelings and there are so many strategies that can help us move through these feelings.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sarah

  • Big Feelings, We All Have Them

    Funded Aug 27, 2021

Thank you so much for your incredible generosity. I do so much bibliotherapy in my counseling practice. These books are helping my students with identifying and expressing feelings. They are providing access for rich discussions around our emotions.

It is wonderful to see my students excitement and curiosity when reading all of the books.

Some of my students have also created wonderful art inspired by these books.

One of the best things about reading these to my students is seeing my students understand they are not alone in feeling big feelings.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sarah

  • Growing Through Drawing and Creating

    Funded Sep 15, 2020

Thank you so much for your incredible generosity. I have been able to assemble bags for each of my students where they have their own materials; journal, art supplies, model magic and stickers. These have been invaluable in my sessions this year. Whether I am meeting with my students remotely or in person they have their very own materials which we use frequently in our sessions.

The look of my excitement on my student's faces when they received their bags was incredible. It also has fostered a sense of pride and responsibility.

My students have been using the materials to express themselves through art. We have been exploring identifying and understanding our feelings. Student's have been working on illustrating and defining personal strengths. We have also been using art to help understand what brings us a sense of calm and peace.

It is wonderful to see all of my students expression through these tools.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sarah

  • Growing Through Books

    Funded Aug 25, 2020

Thank you so much for your generosity in helping me to fund my project. I am so grateful to have such a vast assortment of read alouds, which are helping to foster rich conversations about friendship, inclusivity, diversity, emotions and much more with my students.

This year I am seeing most of my students on zoom rather than in person because of Covid so most of my read alouds are happening on zoom in small groups of 2-3 students. We are able to have meaningful conversations where students are able to offer many insights and share their own experiences.

It brings me so much joy to see my students eyes light up over being introduced to books they have never read. They are truly growing through books. Thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sarah

  • Feeling Peaceful and Calm in Counseling Office

    Funded Aug 27, 2019

My students and I are so grateful for your generosity. We have been making great use out of all the wonderful books that this project provided. Different counseling groups have been working on learning coping skills for when they are worried, when they feel angry and or feel like something is not fair.

The model magic has been such a wonderful way to provide tactile input for students this has really increased students comfort and focus.

The bins have allowed me to present all

of the new materials in a clear and organized way, making everything more accessible to my students. We are so thankful and excited for the year ahead.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sarah

  • Play, Grow and Learn

    Funded Aug 22, 2019

Thank you so much for your generosity. It was amazing seeing how excited my students were when they saw all the new games and puzzles. The walked in my office and immediately began to look at everything eager to try all the new games and puzzles out.

It has been incredible watching my students exhibit immense focus, concentration and collaboration as they work together to solve the puzzles. The feelings cards have been a huge hit as well. Students emotional vocabulary is growing. The students are drawn to looking a the rich illustrations on the feelings cards and applying different social scenarios to their own lives.

The feelings cards have inspired us to have students make their own feelings card to add to the deck.

I am extremely grateful for all your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sarah

I counsel students in grades K-5. A lot of the work revolves around expressing feelings and learning coping skills to manage big emotions. Play is an essential part of counseling. Shiny new games such as Connect Four and Trouble are a wonderful way for students to work on developing social skills. Students need to learn how to take turns, compromise and win or lose gracefully. New games will help them do that. Students express their feelings through play. The Hape dollhouse and dolls are wonderful tools to facilitate this play. Students can act out their feelings in a non-confrontational way. In my counseling office we also play a lot of games as this helps develop and build social skills. Much of the games in my office now are old and broken and missing pieces. I know the students will appreciate new games. Please consider giving to this project. Your generosity will help enrich many students lives.
