  • Protecting Our Ability to Individualize!

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

It’s hard to express how grateful I am for your incredible kindness. With these plexiglass dividers, my co-teacher and I can continue to work with our students safely. We will be able to achieve more with our students while not having to worry about spreading germs and potentially getting sick!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Santiago

  • Firsties In Need of Flexible Seating!

    Funded Dec 9, 2019

Thank you for your generous contribution to my students. Your generosity and kindness will go a long way. Please know that this project will provide a positive impact on my students’ learning. Thank you again for thinking of us and helping each student to feel successful in their learning environment.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Santiago

  • Just a Hop and Skip Away From Being Active and Healthy

    Funded Mar 22, 2012

This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation of gym equipment. Our kindergarteners have been taking advantage of the warmer weather lately and have been able to go and play outside. By using this gym equipment our students are increasing learning by getting the blood flowing and increasing oxygen levels, which promote concentration. Sports and PE help children build self esteem and help them learn important lessons in teamwork. And, of course it promotes good physical fitness.

Our school is currently facing a budget shortfall, so without donors like you many children would be without the gym equipment we so desperately needed. Thank you again for your contribution to my project.”

  • Crafty Kindergarteners Need Art Supplies!

    Funded Dec 28, 2010

Thank you for donating art supplies to our classroom. With school budgets being cut, many supplies such as construction paper, glue and paint are not at the top of the ordering budget. Children are losing out on creating works of art and learning important skills such as cutting and painting.

Thanks to your generous donation, my kindergarteners have made many projects that have allowed them to be creative and have fun while perfecting those important skills. We have made hearts, shamrock men, flowers, lions and lambs as well as had free painting time and finger painting as an art center.

Thank you again for your donation. Thousands of classrooms across America benefit from thoughtful donors like yourself. ”

  • Great Readers Need Reading Books At Home!

    Funded Oct 22, 2010

Thank you so much for your generous donation of books, bags and journals to our classroom. By being so wonderful to us, you have given my students the chance to learn about new things and practice their reading and writing on a level that they can do independently.

The books that your donations helped to buy are great because they are specifically geared to each student's individual reading level. This was important to me because many of my students' parents do no speak or read english. The children must be able to work independently at home. The journals are also perfect for kindergarten because they have large lines and a great space for the children to draw a picture relating to the story they read.

The bags that I requested are great because they are sturdy, heavy duty plastic with a plastic handle. They keep the books safe, the handles make them easy to carry and the journals fit right into the bag also. It also helps to keep my students organized and they know exactly what to do when they take that bag home.

Overall, I've already seen a great improvement in my students' reading and writing abilities thanks to the extra practice they are getting from your donations. Your generosity has made a wonderful improvement in my student's lives!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Santiago

  • Rhyming Skills Can Help Lead to Early Reading Success

    Funded Oct 11, 2010

Thank you all again for your generous donation of rhyming materials and books for my kindergarten classroom. The children were so excited to receive them and use them everyday. We use the materials for literacy center time and the children get to work together to try and match the rhyming words. One of the games you donated was a card matching memory game which is a big hit in my classroom. They often ask if they can play with it!

On a more serious note, we recently had our first reading assessment for kindergarten in New York City. Part of the assessment was recognizing rhyming words and finishing rhyming sentences. Of the 21 children now in my class, 18 passed both assessments. This is in part because my students are getting plenty of extra practice with rhyming, thanks to you.

Thank you again for your generous donation. It means more to my students and I than I can ever express.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Santiago

My students are mostly English Language Learners who live in a low socio-economic urban area in New York City. Most of their parents are immigrants from other countries who do not speak English but work very hard with their children. I want them to succeed at reading and to build their self esteem and confidence.
