Tablets will be used on a daily basis to promote student engagement in learning in Ms. Frazier and Ms. Pettit's class. Tablets encourage interactive and multi-sensory learning through engaging apps where students can practice foundational, standards based skills. For example, apps allow students to practice addition and subtraction fluency through fun games. Or they can practice their handwriting and spelling using the touch screen! Tablets will expand and reinforce daily instruction from teachers in a way that is fun! In addition to making learning fun, tablets also allow for differentiation in the classroom! Our students come to us at all different levels and tablets allow them to work on their level independently. For example, a student that needs to practice letter sounds could work at a Kindergarten level on their tablet, while a student who is ready to learn a second grade skill like synonyms, works on their own level. Finally, tablets will help students build technology skills. This technology fluency is crucial for students' success in school because they take many of their standardized tests on computers and tablets. More importantly utilizing technology is a crucial skills that students must develop to prepare them for the increasingly tech-savvy worlds of high school, college, and careers.
