Classroom Computer
Funded Dec 31, 2006I cannot thank you enough for this generous donation!!! I am still jumping up and down at what this will mean for my students!!! This will be so meaningful for them to connect our lessons with real-life experiences, as well as connect with the world outside of their own limited environment. I took numerous technology-in-the-classroom courses in college, beyond what was required, for my Education degree in anticipation of using computers in the classroom to enhance textbook learning and was so disappointed that no computer was assigned to me. Even so, I am currently receiving additional technology certification regarding emerging uses of classroom computers and how students and teachers can best utilize them. I teach in the poorest parish in the state, do not live in the town I teach, but I am committed to my students and to my school. I drive 45 minutes every day just to get to my school when I could teach at a school right by my house. I am convinced that I can make a difference in the lives of the students I teach and I see it on a daily basis. I provide a loving, nurturing, and stable environment for my students who are truly amazing. They love to learn as much as I love to teach them. Your gift has re-energized me, it gives me added hope and the desire to be a good teacher whose students love school, love learning, love themselves, and know they can succeed in school and in life. I thank you from the bottom of my heart and hope that your generosity will be returned to you a hundredfold. I am already brainstorming a million ways to integrate the computer into our classroom and am excited beyond belief! I can tell you this: When we return to school on January 8th and I tell the students, they will be screaming and jumping up and down! I am going to bake cupcakes to celebrate! Mark your calendar for Monday, January 8th, at 8:10 a.m. Central Time because my 2nd graders are going to be jumping up and down and yelling with joy! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! Happy New Year”

Listening Center And Talking Books
Funded Dec 31, 2006I cannot express my gratitude in words for the funding of my students' listening center and talking books! Your generosity brings tears to my eyes because of the impact this gift will have, not only on this year's class of students but for decades of students. My children come from impoverished backgrounds and language is often informal - survival being the focus for most of my parents. As such, it is imperative for me to teach proper English and grammar for my students to succeed in academics, on standardized tests, and compete in future career choices. These talking books and the listening center re-emphasize what I work on in the classroom, not to lessen the rich culture of my students who are very proud and self-confident, but to add to their life experiences in a way that broadens their opportunities in life. I love them like my own children and am committed to assisting them to reach their potential. Thank you is just not adequate but please accept my sincerest appreciation for your generous gift”

Classroom Supplies & Children's Dictionaries
Funded Dec 15, 2006I cannot put into words how much I appreciate the supplies that you have funded for my classroom! The erasable board is such a blessing - my kids have suffered so much from chalk dust. I have many projects planned for the children with the supplies! The dictionaries will be used for years - the students are going to be amazed at the size of the dictionaries. The only dictionary we have to use is the tiny glossary in the back of their spelling books. They love looking up definitions and are so proud because they just learned how to use a dictionary to find out what part of speech a word is. They get so excited they bounce out of their chairs when they find it first! I have a very interactive class, lots of praise, high fives, and fun. I love these students as if they were my own children and I thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Sincerely,
