Time and Weely Reader Subscriptions to Keep Us Current
Funded Aug 6, 2009How awesome to get these marvelous Weekly Readers and Time for Kids! We are having a blast reading these and learning about current events. The kids are saving them in their binders and treasure these. I had these on their desks for Open House and the parents were so grateful and excited about their children getting these. The parents and I were reminiscing about how much we enjoyed these when we were in school and how much more colorful and child-friendly they are!

NEEDED: Erasable Markers for Dry Erase Boards & Erasers
Funded Aug 6, 2009Thanks so much for funding this proposal, we were in serious need of erasable markers and erasers for our pencils. Your generosity got the children set for the whole year! They love using the erasable boards and the scented markers are such a wonderful component to getting the children excited about practicing on their boards. We are currently practicing multiplication and I get no complaints when I let them use their boards and markers. When we use pencils and paper I always get little moans! Therefore, I have scrapped the pencils and paper for the boards and markers. If it makes the children happy, then it makes me happy. Thank you so much for your help with this. You are my angels!”

Literacy for Life
Funded May 12, 2009Thank you all so much for the kindness of your gift of books for my students! The boxes arrived the first few days of school and the kids were in awe of all the books. They began reading them right away. When news of the arrival of new books got to my students from last year, they came in right away to scope out the new selections. I had them all ready with library cards intact so the students could begin checking them out right away. I have issued the challenge to my class again this year to reach a goal of 1, 250 for their end of year reward. They now have plenty of great books to choose from!
I appreciate all that you do for my students. You make every year such a joy for me to teach and your gifts brighten the lives of my students. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

School Supplies for Needy Children
Funded Apr 29, 2009I wish you could have seen the children's faces when they walked into my room on the first day of school and saw all of their supplies waiting for them on their desks. They were so excited and they hugged their binders to their chests! I taped a plastic cup to each desk with their pens, erasers, and pencils so each child has everything they need for the year. This is so important because I was able to begin teaching on the first day. There is so much for them to learn this year and thanks to your kindness and generosity they are organized and ready. By funding this proposal, you also took a tremendous financial burden off the parents of my students. I thank you from the bottom of my heart and promise that your resources are going to excellent use!

Trophies and Medallions for Super Star Readers!
Funded Apr 24, 2009The trophies and medallions were a huge surprise for my students! They tried so hard to get as many AR points as possible to get the train but the trophies and medallions were a real bonus. As I distributed them, the children could not believe that you got them both the train and the trophies. I made certificates also and gave them those as well with their award. They were ecstatic!
Thank you also for trying to come, I told them how much you wanted to be here and it meant so much to them. This class has been extremely cohesive and I will miss them very much. Thank you so much for making such a day possible for us to end the school year on. It was absolutely wonderful!”

Accelerated Readers-They Shot for the Stars and Reached Them
Funded Apr 24, 2009What an exciting day that you helped to make happen for my students! They worked extremely hard to get to 1,000 AR points so they could get the train rental. Thank you so much for making that possible for them!
The train arrived around 12:00 noon and the whole school watched in amazement as it was unloaded and my children jumped on and rode all over our back field. All the other classes were screaming with excitement watching as my students waved and danced on the train. Everyone wanted to ride! Our school administrators came outside for our luncheon and they rode with my students also! The kids got a real kick out of that.
While my students ate, I invited the other 4th grade classes to take turns so all the 4th graders got a chance to ride. They all had so much fun! In between classes, my kids would get on again and again. The train stayed until 3:00 p.m. and over 200 children got to ride. My class was in heaven and they are still talking about it!

Incentives - Rewarding Good Character and Hard Work
Funded Dec 23, 2008How fabulous!!! This is my favorite program because of the positive reward system. Most of my children come from severely neglected and/or violent backgrounds so nurturing, love, and positive attention are main components of bonding with and teaching them. I make sure each child gets a reward each week, even the most troubled or difficult - they are the ones who need it most. I find something good to focus on and build from there. By showing the children kindness, patience, and love, I find the children begin to treat each other in this way. I always tell them that I am not perfect and they do not have to be either. It is okay to mess up, we just do better next time. Each day is a new day and no matter how bad a day a child may have had, I am always waiting the next morning with a hug and a kiss and I tell them today is a new day, I missed them and I am glad to see them. This is why I have the best, most cohesive class in school. I love them. Thank you so much for these rewards, they truly help the children and make my job so wonderful by allowing me to have rewards for them”

Urgent Need! Table For Individualized Instruction
Funded Nov 25, 2008You have, as always, come to my rescue. I recently had several students categorized such that I am allowed to read tests to them. In order to do this, I needed this table so that they can sit together with me. I will also be able to use this during independent work time. I can take my struggling students to the the table with their erasable boards and work closely with them in a small group. They love this! Thank you soooo much for all you have done. You are my angels!

Organization, Efficiency, Neatness - Keys for Learning!
Funded Dec 23, 2008The children will be so excited to get these! We finally gave up on trying to fit everything in their tiny desks and I let them stack their books under their chairs on the floor. It irritated me though to see a sloppy classroom and lopsided piles of books! Our lovely custodian (she really is wonderful) was upset with me because it was more difficult for her to sweep so I took over sweeping the last couple of months, with the help of my leader of the day. This gift solves all of our problems! Thank you so much and I hope you have a wonderful New Year”

Science and Math - A Visual Approach
Funded Nov 25, 2008Thank you so much for helping to get my students a VCR/DVD player! How exciting for them and for me to be able to bring information and knowledge to them in a way that comes to life. My children love school and when we were out due to the hurricanes they all complained that they missed school and would have rather been with me! I care a lot about my students and feel compelled to be the best teacher I can be for them. Because they enjoy learning, I try very hard to make learning fun and this VCR/DVD player will help me do that. It will be used daily and they children will be so excited! One of our reading stories is Because of Winn-Dixie. I bought the movie but the children have not been able to watch it because we did not have a DVD player. They will be beyond the moon when I tell them we are getting one!!!!
