HP Computers To Enhance Learning
Funded Jun 29, 2010What a great gift to get the beautiful laptops! The children were amazed because these will add to the rotation and increase the amount of time each child gets to use a laptop. We love technology and it really gets the children excited about learning...they love to do their projects and play games on these. This helps to increase their interest in learning and helps them to retain information which is very important in fourth grade! These laptops will be used and treasured for years to come. ”

School Supplies for Needy Children
Funded May 13, 2010The school supplies were such a tremendous blessing this year. Mrs. Huval and I were able to make sure all of our students got everything they needed. The children were so excited to see so many things that you have donated to us. Our student number increased this week to 70 because we rotate classes every two hours. This increases the amount of students who have been impacted by your generosity! Your photos are on my door and they love to look at them and ask me a multitude of questions about you. They love the photos of Phoebe in her Mardi Gras beads! ”

Urgent Need: Printer Ink for Display of Student Work
Funded Mar 16, 2010Thank you so much for the kind donation of printer ink! I bought two printers for the classroom but ran out of ink for them. The students were very excited to get ink so that they can print the documents they are creating on our class laptops.
The students love using computers and it is so important that they become computer savvy at the earliest age. By getting laptops and printer ink, my students are getting hands-on experience that they will use all of their lives. I am so excited to begin the next school year so that I can set up a schedule for each student to have 3 days per week to use the laptops, and rotate them daily. My class this year is loving using different software to learn.
Thank you so much!”

Funded Mar 10, 2010What a miracle to get laptops for my students! They absolutely LOVE them. We rotate them so that each student gets a computer to use for one whole day a week. The kids keep it at their desk and use their computer for all their daily work. They are unbelievably motivated when it is their day!
They are using educational software and I had our parish install Word on the computers so the students are learning how to save their documents to their own digital folders. I want them to be as computer proficient as possible so that as they move through school they are able to use computers effectively. I want them to succeed in life and I know that computer skills are a necessity!
Thank you so much!!!! ”

Funded Jan 5, 2010Thank you so much for the donation of note book computers for my students. Many of my students do not have computers at home so it is very important that they learn to use computers at school. They will need computer skills in order to be able to compete for jobs in the work force when they are older. Additionally, they enjoy creating their own work on the computer and printing out the results. I bought two printers specifically for this purpose. Our first project is to compile a recipe book. Each student brought their favorite recipe from home and they will type them up on the computers and add clip art. They will then print out their recipe and display their work in the classroom. This is helping with cognitive sequencing skills, as well as targeting computer skills. I have had each child create a digital folder on each computer so that as they do work, they can save it in their folder. I am hoping to show them how to use flashdrives soon because they are catching on so quickly! They are so excited to have these and the computers are absolutely beautiful and easy to use. Thank you for making learning so much fun and more interesting for my students! ”

Funded Dec 7, 2009Thank you so much for the generous donation of the SmartBoard and Clicker system. It is truly amazing! The students eagerly awaited the arrival of the SmartBoard and were so excited when it arrived. Luckily, I was able to get it installed within a day and we began using it right away!
The students beg for me to put Math problems on the SmartBoard so they can use their Clickers! They are able to see on the screen if they got the problem correct and they love to challenge themselves. The most important thing is that by instantly seeing who needs help, I can go straight to my students who need additional assistance. It is like an instant assessment of who understands and who does not. Also, my students like to work together so they are able to help each other. It has created even more of a family atmosphere in my classroom because of this.
Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity! This is truly an amazing gift!

Sports - Teaching Teamwork and Character!
Funded Dec 16, 2009Thank you so much for supplying my students with sports equipment! The children were so excited to get such awesome recess items. The children love to play and cannot wait for the rain to stop so they can play flag football and kick soccer.
I bought the boys footballs but they love to tackle and this has caused some trouble for us! I hated to take away their footballs so you have solved our problem. Now they can play using the flags and have a wonderful time!
Our P.E. program has introduced the children to kick soccer and they love it and thanks to your kindness my students can play any day they would like to. We will get years of use and lots of happiness thanks to your generosity!
Thank you for making recess a time of joy for my students!

Math Center Supplies - Hands on Learning
Funded Jun 19, 2009Thank you so much for funding the math center materials! We have been using them since the first day of school and they make teaching math and science so much more fun for me. I love having manipulatives for them to use and experience learning with. The kids absolutely love math and science and they are amazed by your generosity. My lessons are more activity driven and less textbook driven, which is more meaningful for them. My children who are kinesthetic learners certainly are blessed by your generosity! My benchmark scores are already up and I am very excited to see how they do on LEAP!
Thanks so much!”

Bringing the World to Louisiana
Funded Aug 6, 2009The students are having such a great time with their geography workbooks and posters. The posters are really beautiful and I had them laminated so they will last forever! I ordered three beginner books for understanding maps because some of the children have not been exposed to reading maps. I wanted to start out very basic and then build so that they would enjoy geography and not feel overwhelmed by just jumping into map reading. This is awesome because even my lower level students cheer when I say it is geography time! I let them work in pairs and they love that and we utilize lots of colors and markers. The talking globe is being used daily as well. The Weekly Readers and Time subscriptions are so wonderful because they are using their geography knowledge to locate the places being covered in their weekly magazines! Thanks so much for making this possible! ”

Science Center - Hands on Learning
Funded Jun 19, 2009The students have been having a wonderful time using the Science manipulatives you funded. We have been using most of them daily for liquid measurement and weight, which was our Science focus the last month. We have been able to compare metric and customary measurements and the students grasped this very quickly thanks to their ability to perform hands-on experiments. I am especially looking forward to our unit on magnetism because you funded two magnet kits and the students are going to have so much fun experimenting with these.
Thanks so much for your kindness, we love you!”
