My students could use iPads in so many ways in my language arts classroom. In the past when I had more iPads in my classroom I was able to use them in small groups, but it isn't feasible to do those projects with a single iPad. The favorite project my fifth grades did had students using the apps Shadow Puppet and PicKids to make a digital project. First they found a poem, then they found props that matched the theme of the poem. They photographed and read the poems creating a digital project. During summer school with smaller class sizes I have been able to use my single iPad to create stop motion videos where students write a story and then photograph props to create a video while they read their story. There are so many ways I could incorporate technology into my language arts classroom, but the technology is currently unavailable. If I acquired two iPads through this grant and used my classroom iPad I could have students work in groups of 5 and do two rotations so that I had 6 groups. Three groups could be working with the iPad while the other three groups were in the planning stage. My students would be thrilled to have this digital resource in our classroom!
