I am an Autism Educator at an elementary school which services 12 students on the autism spectrum. If they can't learn the way we teach, then we teach the way they can learn! These students all have varying ability levels. Most of them will greatly benefit from sensory integration. My goal is to create a sensory room as well as a life skills room to better service the needs of my students. Sensory materials will help my students better navigate the world around them. They will all be able to develop fine and gross motor skills with the sensory materials. The magnetic color maze will help to develop fine motor skills and it will also help students who have aversions to certain colors and textures. The Flex Space Balance Ball will help to calm students who may be overwhelmed by too much sensory stimuli throughout the school day. The Mathematics Power Pens will help with developing gross and fine motor skills and help keep my students challenged with necessary life skills. This will be a space dedicated to the students at my school who are on the autism spectrum.
