Students will learn about electricity and circuits by investigating conductors and insulators with Makey Makey and then create their own paper circuits that will light up. Objective: The student will be able to: -Apply the terms insulators, conductors, open and closed in describing electrical circuits. - Differentiate between an open and closed electric circuit. -Differentiate between conductor and insulator -Create a functioning circuit using copper tape, 3 volt battery, Halloween template/Winter template and 2 LED bulbs -Create a functioning parallel circuit using copper tape, 3-volt battery, template, LED bulb Activity I: (30 Min) * Students will hypothesize whether items are insulators or conductors Hook up Makey Makey * Practice completing circuits using Makey Makey and the following apps http://flabbyphysics.com/ https://apps.makeymakey.com/bongos/ * Compare various items to determine whether they are conductors or insulators. * Go to the website makeymakey.com/piano * Use various materials to determine whether the item is a conductor or insulator. Complete lab sheet Activity II:(30 Min) Build a Basic Circuit (Paper Circuit) https://www.makerspaces.com/halloween-paper-circuit-projects/ Two - Light Emitting Diode (LED) Two -3 volt coin battery Halloween or Winter paper circuit template Following the template students will Light up their Characters. The student will then Build a Parallel Circuit Two- Light Emitting Diode (LED) one -3 volt coin battery Circuit template https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uR3zow7gXw6I11HdWvEuJ50lO5nF-1GqxZlkkuQcwdE/edit?usp=sharing
