Clipboards for Budding Playwrights and Flexible Learning!

Thank you again for your generosity towards my students and classroom. My students were thrilled when they saw the clipboards for the first time (and they love how colorful they are! Anything that makes writing more fun is so helpful!).

I'm thrilled to announce that my 5th-grade theater students have just completed their first unit on playwriting! During this unit, students were able to creatively improvise topics, settings, plots, and characters for their plays, and then sit down and write out their ideas and dialogue. These clipboards allowed my students to create on their feet and use the full space of the theatre classroom, while also having the possibility to sit comfortably and write out their ideas.

At the end of the unit, we even invited professional theatre actors to perform the plays that the students wrote! I was impressed by the specificity and creativity of my students' writing. I truly believe that my students were able to write effectively and creatively because they had so much flexibility in their learning.

Next, students will continue to devise their plays in groups! They will use these clipboards when writing scenes, creating design sketches, and providing each other with written feedback.
