  • Extra Extra Read Books!

    The students and I appreciate the books we received. They enjoyed starting their school year with new books to add to their book baggies.

    In my class students are asked to read in school and at home for at least 20 minutes. With these books they are able to have books to take home and return the next day. They have interesting books to read that are on their reading level. The nonfiction texts are used to teach the children about different topics that they can also write about. Thanks again on behalf of my students!”

  • Class 102 Loves to Read!

    Funded May 24, 2019

    The students were so excited to get the listening center, headphones and books today. They received the books in their hands and began reading instantly on their own, while some listened as I played one on the computer.

    This center is going to continue to help students hear what fluent reading sound like and give them an additional model. In the classroom each day we have independent and partner reading time where students can read to or with a friend on a variety of reading levels.

  • A Home for Our Chicks!

    Funded May 6, 2019

    The chicks love the brooder as a home where they feel safe and warm. They are able to get all the food and water they need to help them grow. They are one week old today and the children were so excited to be able to finally take them out the brooder and hold them! Thank you for bringing this project to life. The children and motivated to work and show the chicks how well they can read, write, and solve math problems.

    The chicks hatched in time for the end of our informational reading and writing unit.

    Yesterday they began writing poetry and are using this project as inspiration for their poems.

  • Help Give our Baby Chicks a Home!

    Now that the eggs are here and we are learning to much, we would like to say thank you for the food, the cage, the carrier, the feeders and of course the book. The students saw the book and knew it was an informational text that would help them learn about the quails. They wanted me to read it right away. First they took in the news about the eggs and watching the process and then came a list of questions. Over the next few weeks we will read the book and the students will be able to find the answers to their questions.

  • Chicks in the Classroom!

    The students were so excited to guess our new class pet. They thought of everything except chicks. They couldn't fathom the idea of having chick in the classroom. They asked so many questions about the chicks. Tomorrow they are going to a farm to learn about chicks so we can better know how to care for them. I will also use the lesson plans and book to teach more about our informational unit. They can wait to read and to see this process unfold.

  • Print Math Magic

    My students are using these centers to expand their knowledge of math. Each center brings them one step closer to being first grade mathamaticans! The students with disabilities are able to understand the math needed for first grade according to the standards.

    The students are excited to be able to engage in new math centers according to their ability levels. They are also building their confidence in math! We have a few students in the ICT class who would not participate. Now they are explaining the process and strategies they are using in math.

The printer for my class will help prepare the students for exciting creative centers and lessons that will engage every student to think critically and solve problems. Having the ability to see concrete samples and written words will allow for a smooth learning environment that will help each and every student maximize their learning. My students will be equipped with the essential materials that is needed to improve their Math skills and ensure growth by the end of the year.
