Please Help Start the Music!
Funded Jan 23, 2020Orchard Villa Elementary is very grateful for the donations that funded the equipment necessary to bring music back to our schools. Our students are growing up in a community in which they are exposed to poverty and all that entails. Often, schools in a community like this lacks the funds that supports he arts. This leads to students coming to school without the equipment needed to share their creative expression. However, with your help, we have been able to provide our students with new musical instruments here at school. This has improved attendance and student productivity. It has given children a creative outlet. This musical expression helps them even expr5ess their emotional frustrations in class. Additionally, our schools parent involvement had grown since the students are now able to put on musical productions with their instruments. Thank you!”

Funded Feb 7, 2019The Suds Club of Orchard Villa Elementary is very grateful for the donations that funded the equipment necessary to wash and dry student uniforms. Our students are growing up in a community in which they are exposed to poverty and all that entails. Often, these children have a very limited number of school uniforms. This leads to students coming to school dirty and/or missing school altogether due to a lack of clean clothing. Absences and an inability to focus lead to poor academic outcomes. However, with your help, we have been able to provide our students with clean uniforms by washing and drying them here at school. This has improved attendance and student productivity. Additionally, our Suds Club student members have learned to wash, dry, and return clothing to participating families. We are excited to continue providing this much needed service to our students and their families. Thank you!”

Funded Feb 14, 2019Thank you for your generous donation to our Garden Club! The students at Orchard Villa Elementary have been able to create garden beds ad plant various types of plants that have helped us in so many ways. The children have experienced hands-on learning through the building and maintenance of the garden. There are not many things in their neighborhood that have been created by them and for them. This garden had been an empowering item that has showed the students what they can created on their own to make their neighborhood a better place. They feel pride in their work and in their school. For most of them, this is the only meaningful contact with nature they have had. The garden has also helped students improve their skills with science, measurement, and math among others. And perhaps most importantly, it has helped our children recognize and appreciate the importance of healthier and more nutritious eating choices and habits. What more can we say? The garden club has been amazing! And it would not have been possible without your kindness. Thank you!”
