  • 1-2-3 Sanitize Me!

    Funded Aug 25, 2023

We are so excited about setting up our new Sanitizing Station. The weather is so unpredictable that we need to practice good hygiene. The cold and flu season is right around the corner! We can visit the station, do what needs to be done then return to our seat without spreading germs.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jennings

This classroom project was brought to life by The SONIC Foundation and 2 other donors.
  • Welcome: Kinder "Coders"

    Funded Aug 15, 2023

My students love programming the Bee-Bots as they carry out their commands. Thank you again for making it possible for them to become "coders for life!" Even the students who prefer to work by themselves, join the fun when the assignment is to create a code that sends your Bee-Bot on an adventure it has never been.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jennings

  • Just the Right Place!

    Funded May 10, 2023

My students are ready to get organized thanks to your donation. Even though their GT class is bi-weekly, they will have time to read, write and share these adventures. Their special book is now kept in their "Special Place."

Remember: reading can take you to places in your dreams!”

  • A+ Ready Readers!

    Funded Feb 10, 2023

My students will be able to read books about famous people during Black History month who look like them. These books are at a grade level where (I believe) they will read them from cover to cover. This is fantastic news for all my GT students at every grade level!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jennings

  • "Magic" Books

    Funded Mar 2, 2022

Thank you so much for your support of my K-5 Gifted and Talented classroom. My classroom library has been upgraded with new "magic books" written about inventors/innovators, leaders, educators, orators, musicians, and other careers to help with their at-home research. The look on my students faces when I introduced them to their new "magic books" were absolutely priceless. I constantly remind them of our motto: "excellent academics and excellent behavior." Their learning light bulbs turned on, and they were even more excited to complete their projects because of their new materials.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jennings

  • Be You!

    Funded Sep 19, 2022

My students love exploring new ideas even if it is just to "pay-back" one of his/her classmates with a smile or high five. These new resources will give them another opportunity to showcase their success at its best. When you give your best, it will always Be You!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jennings

This classroom project was brought to life by STAG Industrial and 2 other donors.
  • "Mighty" Mathematicians

    Funded Aug 10, 2022

My students are getting excited about the new materials! These resources will give their math problem-solving strategies a daily "make over". Writing in their journals will help them justify their answer choice. This step-by-step approach will ensure my students get a better understanding of the "right" answer.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jennings

  • Coding With Hopscotch

    Funded Sep 1, 2021

After the students played a regular game of hopscotch outside on the black top and inside on the new colorful hopscotch rug, they were ready to take on the new game: Coding with Hopscotch.

Using the Let's Go Code Activity Set, they had to learn the coding rules in order to capture the robot. This strategy was quite different from placing two feet or one foot in a square. They had to follow the code signs: move forward, turn right and turn left!

It was so much fun seeing them discuss and design movement techniques needed to play Coding with Hopscotch even on a rainy day!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jennings

This classroom project was brought to life by Bill Gates and 2 other donors.
  • Money Power!

    Funded Sep 30, 2021

Now that my students understand the value of money, they were introduced to spending money. The Pay Day game exposes them to household finances: buying groceries, fix the car, pay the doctor and start their own business. They will exposed to real world expenditures to help them answer the question: Where does my money go?

The action takes place on a monthly calendar printed on the game board. They learn how their money is spent each day. One of the most important concepts for playing the game is bills must be paid. If you don't have enough money, sometimes you have to get a loan. This same financial strategy is included in a business plan.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jennings

This classroom project was brought to life by Charles Schwab and 2 other donors.
  • Classy Independent Projects

    Funded Dec 12, 2019

Students enrolled in the GT program create independent projects each semester. In-class research and project design require pair/share activities for students using dry erase boards to help them make necessary changes to the project before turning in the final project.

After changes are made, students are able to use tri-fold and/or science boards to display each grade-level project they completed at home. During our yearly GT Fair, administrators, staff members, parents and the entire student body are invited to view these outstanding independent projects.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jennings

Buzzing Codes is an interactive technology-based program designed to teach coding in a fun way. Using Bee-Bots, a colorful, easy-to-operate, friendly little robot, will help students (at an early age) learn sequencing, estimation, problem solving and space exploration. Bee-Bot's bright yellow body with sound and flashing lights keep students engaged while learning a new skill. It may be used by students individually, in pairs or in small groups in every grade. Coding is a new type of literacy as computers continue to become a more integral part of our daily lives. Bee-Bots will add a buzz in their technology skills.
