Reading and writing go hand in hand. This is why I have spent my summer creating writing lessons focused around children's literature. The best way, I believe, to teach my third graders to love writing, is to show them beautiful examples! These mentor texts will anchor my students' writing lessons each week. Looking beyond the meaning of the words, each text will be used to illustrate important writing concepts and processes. For a group of readers who are already passionate about the adventures one can find in the pages of a book, this lesson structure is sure to create passionate writers! Please help me engage my writers and have them eager to put pencil to paper, thanks to these amazing mentor texts.
