  • Blended Learning Model

    Funded Jul 17, 2021

My students and I really appreciate your support. I am so excited to give my students an opportunity to continue learning at home. Although we are transitioning back into the classroom full time, we have to prepare for at home learning as well. With these materials my students will be able to continue learning at home with supplies that is geared towards their ages.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fitzgerald

  • Preschool Digital Learning!

    Funded Apr 30, 2020

I am so delighted that you took the time out to help my students thrive during this hectic time. This was definitely a school year to remember. My students just begun their educational journey, and as quickly as it begun we transitioned into virtual learning. As a teacher I had to think outside of the box to engage my students through the computer. One question I asked myself was, "what can I use to engage my students?" Upon researching I came across a document camera that will allow me to speak with my students live and multitask showing examples in my home.

The document camera allowed me to stay still and introduce new things. My students very young and their attention span is very limited. Using the document camera to engage my students, helped me to increase my students' ability to listen to the lesson and provide input. Also the chart paper pad allowed me to prepare a written lesson and display it on the document camera as I discussed the lesson with my students.

My students were so happy to see a sink and float lesson through my document

camera. The document camera allowed me to discuss the lesson and do a live experiment for my students. This experiment put the biggest smile on my students' faces. My students went on to do their own sink and float experiments to submit. Also, my students enjoyed a Humpty Dumpty lesson that I was able to display using the document camera. I can honestly say we were so grateful to have these items in our life during the pandemic.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fitzgerald

  • STEAM In The Classroom!

    Funded Feb 6, 2020

There are new educational items in the classroom due to the support of many people who have an interest in education. There is a great deal of excitement and opportunities to teach a variety of topics which will increase the students knowledge. We have studied balls and researched the movement of various balls. The camera was used to take pictures while the students used ramps to roll the balls and later discussed which balls moved faster than the other. This opportunity allowed students to look at the pictures on another day, and discuss gravity. Students learned new vocabulary and was able to discuss the meaning of the new words they learned.

The I-pads are used to research the answers to questions asked by students, as well as things students wonder about balls; and allow students to watch videos that explains force, distance, speed and energy. Students were able to draw pictures to demonstrate what they have learned.

My students love the way they now have the ability to utilize technology independently to conduct research. In a world of technology the younger the children are made aware of how it can be used will definitely be a plus for them going forward. The new telescope is a very special treat for the children. I have a student that shows great interest in science and, is very excited to use the telescope along with their classmates. He spoke about the difference in night and day and the stars and the moon he sees at night. Sparking the interest of these students is truly a wonderful experience for the students and the teacher as well.

We are grateful for this opportunity and so appreciative for the assistance provided to make it all possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fitzgerald

I am a preschool teacher in Newark, New Jersey. My students are young eager learners, who learn best through hands on experiences. We use creative curriculum, which is a research-based curriculum that features exploration and discovery as a way of learning, enabling children to develop confidence, creativity, and lifelong critical thinking skills. We are currently working on promoting STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) in the classroom. STEAM education allows students more opportunities to engage in hands on learning, especially technology, science, and engineering. In an effort to make science come alive, we are seeking donations. 1. Digital camera (will allow students an opportunity to take pictures of their work, and observe the process of printing the images) 2. iPads (will allow students the opportunity to research and learn how to type) 3. Telescope (will allow students to explore the Earth)
