Many of our school's students come from homes highly impacted by trauma. I have noticed how they perform better academically after a mental break in which they play a game not related to academics or when they burn out energy outside. My students will be able to use alternate sitting, board games, outdoor equipment, or just a fidgeting item as they learn to take responsibility for their behavior and education. By giving them the opportunities to rest and self-regulate when needed, the students will be able to reintegrate into the classroom's academic flow with the least interruption to the learning environment. Thank you.
