These materials would aid in creating a safe, cozy, calm area for students who are having a difficult day, upset, overwhelmed by emotions and / or simply need a short break. Comfy floor seats, noise cancelling headphones and mood squares are 3 of the necessary materials for such an area. These materials will allow students to move away from a stressful situation to a comfortable space where they are allowed to cool down, express their emotions appropriately, self-sooth and then return to work. The calming corner will be in the student's classroom where they remain under their teacher's supervision and in the counselor's therapy room.
