Books, Books, Books but No Shelf
Funded Oct 5, 2021My students were ecstatic when I informed them our Donors Choose Project for new book shelves was funded! They knew this meant that their library would become more organized, so they will be able to find engaging books easier. They also knew this meant we now have a place for all of the amazing and brand new books our school provided to the classrooms! It was such an amazing feeling to take a step back after placing our new books in the shelves and see how amazing our library looked!
We are currently about to begin our information writing unit, which means we will be using our science and social studies books as mentor texts, which are now beautifully organized! We are looking forward to hunting for text features and writing our own informational texts!
Thank you again from the bottom of our 5th grade hearts for helping to improve our classroom library!!”

Funded Oct 21, 2021I cannot begin to express how thankful my students and I are for your donations to this project. Having a copy of "Wonder" in every one of my students' hands has been such a ginormous support. We have just finished part 1 in class and my class cannot get enough, they are constantly begging for me to lengthen the read aloud time!
During our reading block, we begin with reading aloud this great book and follow up with discussing the pages read. We discuss reading skills and strategies along with SEL.”

Funded May 13, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom! These R.J. Palacio books were such a joy to bring into the 5th grade curriculum this year. My students perked up every time I announced it was read aloud time, because they could not wait to continue hearing about Auggie Pullman's adventures in school. These books gave us so many learning opportunities! From practicing our reading skills, to learning about kindness, and thinking back on our Social Emotional Learning lessons. I knew after only a few chapters of "Wonder" that I wanted to continue reading Auggie's story to my students in "Auggie & Me: Three Wonder Stories".
We were remote this year, so my students were reading off of scanned pages online. I made the decision to continue using these books in my classroom going forward. In order to prepare for going back to in-person learning next year (fingers crossed we're back!!) I wanted to make sure I had the materials to make this happen! Struggling students will uses the books to be follow along while I am reading aloud. Also, at the end of each read aloud book we read, my students complete on comprehension projects; with these books, they will be able to go back into the text to support their projects with text details!
Again, thank you for making this possible! I cannot wait to continue bring Auggie and his friends stories about navigating 5th grade to my own 5th graders!”

Ms. Logozzo
Organization for the Win!
Funded May 4, 2021This project has been an exciting one to bring into my classroom! The filing cabinet and folders were used immediately to help myself and my students stay organized throughout our school day.
The materials for the differentiated group work throughout the school day have been color coded and organized by each subject. My students have been able to independently find the materials they need in the drawer! With this system, there have been less lost or loose papers throughout my classroom, resulting in less garbage or incomplete work.
Another drawer in this file cabinet is being used for their student portfolios. All of their completed work and assessments are put in their individual file folder and stored for assessment, progress tracking and data collecting.
Again, from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!”

Funded Jan 16, 2021I can't even begin to put into words how thankful I am for your donations towards my classroom. Remote learning has been such a big challenge my students and I have faces this year. Throughout the year, I have been trying new ways to keep my students engages and get the most out of my lessons. The use of this IPad and Apple Pencil have helped me since receiving it!!
My students were so excited when I unwrapped it with them on Google Meets. They are so thankful that there are so many amazing people out there that want to help them make the most of this year!”

Help Me Engage My Students!
Funded Dec 29, 2020Keeping my students focused and excited about school has become a big challenge as we enter the middle of this crazy school year, being at home has provided a ton more distractions! With the help of this Teachers Pay Teachers gift card, I have been able to catch their attention through the use of exciting activities. Creating and developing engaging and new interactive digital lessons and assignments can become extremely overwhelming. However, it is one of my top priorities to keep my students engaged and wanting to learn and participate.
My students have been giving me such amazing feedback on the colorful engaging tasks they have been given and I couldn't be more excited to hear it! From the bottom of our hearts we thank you for your help and support!!!”

Hook Us Up!
Funded Oct 26, 2020The items I have received thanks to your extremely generous donations have positively impacted my remote classroom in ways you could not even imagine! Without being in a physical classroom this year, there have been some new challenges that we have had to face. It seems every step forward we have taken as a class in tackling it, one more challenge arises!
The second computer monitor has made such a difference in my remote classroom! Now, I am able to see my students throughout the entire day, rather than switching between my presentations and their Google Meet. This has made classroom discussions run so much more smoothly, as I can call on students with their hand up with ease, rather than pause to see who's hand is up! It has also helped me record their data much more simply, which helps me give parents feedback on their child's learning more frequently.
The portable USB camera has been such a big help, especially during math! While teaching math remotely, it is sometimes hard to get an idea across to my students. With the help of the camera, I can now model for them how to set up certain equations and show the sets of how to solve it!”

Supporting Remote Learning
Funded Oct 14, 2020Remote learning has been a huge challenge to both students and educators. As I began this school year in the new Blended Remote 5th Grade position, I quickly realized modeling some skills and strategies will be extremely difficult to draw using the touchpad on my laptop. I can now write on Jamboard clearer for my students to follow and understand during math lessons. My students were ecstatic the first time I demonstrated the use of the XP-Pen!
Creating and developing engaging and new interactive digital lessons and assignments can become extremely overwhelming. However, it is one of my top priorities to keep my students engaged and wanting to learn and participate. The activities that I have been able to purchase from Teachers Pay Teachers with the gift card have helped us immensely. My kids comment on how much they enjoyed lessons, everyday now. I couldn't even put into words how much that warms my heart.
Thank you for your generous donations and helping my 5th graders get the most out of their Blended Remote experience!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Logozzo
