My students are 4th grade boys with behavioral disabilities. Their behaviors make it difficult to teach them new and challenging things. Our class is structured so that the students work to earn breaks. In order for this to be effective the students need new, exciting, and creative things to do on their break times. I would prefer for students’ breaks to be interactive and creative instead of more screen time. These breaks will be an opportunity for us all to bond together and talk and learn to trust each other. Using creative toys to build strong relationships is key to helping students feel like they belong and want to engage in more appropriate behavior. Changing their behavior will help make them more productive and happy members of society. It will give them a better brighter future.
