  • Art Supplies for Deaf Students

    Funded Oct 13, 2016

We greatly appreciate your generosity to our students. To have the opportunity to recieve instruction from skilled visual art teachers and have the materials they need to be fully included with the students in that class is overwhelming. The students are so excited to be getting the art supplies. Thank you for this opportunity. The students will be excited to start creating!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Duffy

  • "I Love You" In Sign Language

    Funded Mar 2, 2011

I can not begin to express how thankful we are for your donation. The "make a mold kits" will give our class one more opportunity to learn skills that will help them as they move from school to life. One thing our classroom focuses on is vocational skills. Being that our students are Deaf, it can be limiting choosing employment areas. Your generous donation of materials will help teach, production, manufacturing, and general entrepreneurship skills.

We are working toward a self-sustainable program where our students use various business opportunities such as this "I love you in sign language" project, to fund community based learning experiences.

Thank you again for taking the time to help support our students and our program. We hope through collaboration like this, our students will be better prepared and be able to be gainfully employed when their time in our program is finished.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Duffy

We are middle school and high school students that are Deaf and/or Hard of hearing. We have students ranging from 6th grade through age 21. A portion of our students participate in mainstream classes and graduate with a high school diploma. Other students in our program participate in a program focusing on functional living skills and vocational education. Along with deafness, we also have moderate cognitive delays. Most of us come from low income families. We attend a public school that is focused on 8 different art areas called majors. We are surrounded by creativity. Even though we are not directly involved in these majors, through collaboration with the teachers we participate in projects with various majors at times. Our students embrace their deafness as "Deaf Power".
