Students who are deaf and/or hard of hearing struggle with both academic skills and auditory skills. Because of their hearing loss, they tend to miss much of the information they learn in a classroom. As a traveling teacher, I have the chance to have one on one sessions with the students where I can help fill in the learning gaps for them. However, this is sometimes difficult when their best mode of communication and learning is visual (video/media) but I don't have ready access to a classroom or computers all the time (almost never). An Apple iPad will put learning in the palm of their hands by allowing them to take concepts, lessons, and new information learned it class and access it visually.
