Funded Jul 9, 2020I teach a k-2 6:1:1 class. Most of my students are diagnosed with Autism. All of my students are nonverbal and we utilize a Picture Exchange Communication system in order for them to convey wants and needs. In addition, many have some form of a sensory processing disorder. Children with Autism can utilize sensory toys to help them focus, calm down and grasp concepts with a decreased fear or discomfort.
The "We Like to Move It Move It" project was paramount for my students to do just that. We asked for a balance beam, ball pit and liquid floor tiles. We have been using these items since the very moment we opened the box. It has been transformative for the way children cope with stressors in the classroom.
Although my students cannot verbally tell you "thank you" I know they cherish these items with every smile and burst of excitement when I place these items out to use. We cannot put into words how appreciative we are for your support. Your generosity has given us more than you could possibly know. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”
