  • Help With the Little Things to Make the Big Impact

    Funded Nov 17, 2022

Thank you so much for your support! Your donation to our need for the "little things" has truly made a "big impact"! The students enjoyed unboxing all the materials especially discovering new materials they have never used before. The markers, crayons, paper and scissors are used in a daily basis to practice skills and create art projects.

The materials are often used to support the "units of study" that is being learned in the classroom such as light, plants, water etc. Art projects are used to reinforce the ideas and facts the students learn in the classroom. These projects ranged from making sun prints, stained glass windows, rainbows and flowers.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Christy

  • Giving All Students a Voice

    Funded Sep 16, 2022

Your generosity towards the iPad AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) device has been extremely helpful in giving my students a voice. The device currently has 3 different speech applications on it that are used daily and in the classrooms and during my occupational therapy sessions. The iPad allows my students to use the apps to request activities, communicate their needs and show me what they know! It allows my students without or with limited expressive language to communicate with me more effectively.

My students get excited when they are able to choose an activity they want independently and get it. It's heartwarming to see the smiles on their faces when they use the device knowing that what they want is being clearly communicated. It also helps me to create activities and interventions that are more tailored to their interests and knowledge now that I have a greater understanding of those things through their communications.

This device was fundraised for my students that needed a little more help. These particular students have all used the device and shown growth in their communication and overall engagement. It has been truly helpful in creating a stronger bond with these students that were not always understood. Thank you for helping me to be more equitable for those students that previously did not have a voice!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Christy

  • Jump, Jive, Joy

    Funded Feb 8, 2019

Thank you so much for your generous contribution towards funding our jump, jive, joy project! The trampoline is used in therapy sessions daily between a group of physical and occupational therapists with the children attending the PRE-K center. These children come to our school with a wide range of skills and abilities.

The trampoline is used therapeutically to help develop gross motor skills as well as to provide an avenue where the children can get sensory input to help their bodies and brains be in a more optimal state for learning.

Some of the children were extremely excited upon seeing the trampoline and jumped right on. Others were more hesitant and are working to build their level of comfort with moving their bodies this way.

Currently the trampoline is placed in a small area inside a classroom due to space contraints that occurred after the trampoline was ordered and the school's rapid growth. It is being used daily, but the goal is to relocate it to a larger area and use it in larger obstacle courses and have more than one child take part with it to encourage more social interactions.

Thank you again for your contributions toward helping my students develop and reach their ultimate potential while attending Pre K!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Christy

This trampoline will help my preschool special needs students meet their sensory and learning needs by providing them input for their bodies to be in a “just right state.” It will be used in therapy sessions for movement to help organize the child’s body and mind through through therapeutic movement activities such as obstacle courses, movement breaks and preparation to learning. It will give them a way to love that is safe and structured in their educational setting. The trampoline is just one piece of sensory equipment needed in my space, but will be used for both children receiving occupational therapy as well as physical therapy.
