Currently, in my classroom, the only seating option is a horseshoe shaped table. Many of the children I serve have unique needs. Sitting at a table feels rigid and confining, resulting in less engaging therapy sessions. Having a designated area to sit that felt more comfortable, would allow more captivating sessions. But, I would still be able to keep the students within an allocated space. My hopes are that a relaxing setting would produce better communication. Also, the carpeted area would allow a location for my students with sensory concerns to go and decompress. The rug would enhance the environment in my classroom. My goal is to provide an atmosphere that is contented and nourishes communication.
