iPad You Virtually
Funded Oct 9, 2020I am not quite sure what other words to use because thank you does not describe my gratitude for your donations. If almost 11 months ago, you would of told me I would of said goodbye to my 6th graders for the last time in person, I would not have believed it. Over the summer, if were to tell me I would have to plan my first day of school virtually, I would not have believed it. I am a math and science teacher and when I teach I need to show and virtually how can this be done successfully?!? My first thoughts were to get whiteboard paper and make my dining room wall into a huge whiteboard. I was having to students to constantly pin and unpin me to see what I was writing and then view our on line document. Now, I am able to have their math lesson and an additional blank page open at the same time and no more pinning and unpinning to be able to see.
The iPad and Pencil were a total game changer. I am able to write on the same screen that my students are working on as well as provide notes. Since math is a very visual subject, I am able to make better connections and show more details. I think my students like that they don't have to pin and unpin and they can even hear me better. I would have to wear my AirPods so my students could hear me since the microphone on my laptop was too far away.
I think all of my students are benefiting from your donation. I know I am benefiting and I feel successful now as a virtual school teacher. I feel organized now and know this has made me a better teacher and I hope that I have better students who I am trying my best to reach virtually.”

Funded Aug 10, 2020Thank you do much for your generous donation. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be teaching from my dining room and not from my classroom/ school where I have taught for the last 15 years. The way that I implement my lessons are not the same as they were when we were in the classroom. I need to have my students super engaged in all subjects. Our TPT gift card is the perfect way to find creative ways to implement the curriculum.
My students love when I tell them that their assignment is from TPT and that I was able to turn a lesson that needed to be photocopied to use in the classroom digitally. I am able to download many different lessons. We started off the year with learning about Growth Mindset and helping us tackle virtual learning. We learned about the difference between growth and fixed. I know students appreciated this since some of the students were able to really open up and share their thoughts. On Halloween, my students loved the ratio assignment we were able to complete that wasn't like our "normal" math lesson. Friday's are their favorite days since we play games during our morning meeting time.
I still have funds left to purchase new materials for my students for upcoming lessons. Right now we are learning about percent so I am going to find a fun and interactive puzzle for my students to complete together. Also, we are starting unit in science so I am looking forward to seeing what TPT has to offer. Again, all of my "creativity" couldn't be possible without your generous donation.”

Funded Dec 18, 2018I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. My students were so excited to hear that we got a new donation for our classroom that is being used on almost a daily basis. Many of my students need to be hands on to learn . My school is a Title 1 school and some of my students do not have any technology at home so school is the only place student(s) can feel connected to the "real world". With technology, students can see what they are learning because it is right at their finger tips. They can then apply what they learned to their lives. Technology allows students to use more than just the teacher for support and they are able to integrate all their subjects together. This allows for teaching to be more meaningful and students to deepen their understanding of that they are learning.
We are all in love with the new printer/copier/ scanner in our classroom. Students are enjoying being able to print out pictures for a project or an essay. The printer we had in our classroom was over 10 years old and wasn't always working when we needed something. Now, we can make necessary copies needed for the students to learn the concepts that are being taught. By having a printer in the classroom has helped a few of my students who "lose" everything and they can get a new copy immediately instead of waiting until the next day to get a new copy. Students can also have copies made to further their learning and to prepare themselves for state testing. I find the scanner useful to scan documents to add to our Google classroom and students have new and exciting activities to do in class. Students also find it exciting that they can have their ideas printed in the classroom now and not have to wait to go to the computer lab (which is only once a week).
Having a printer with a scanner in the classroom has been especially handy when a student was sick and I was able to scan their missing assignments and send it home via e-mail or added it to Google classroom. This way the student does not fall behind. Also, the parents are made aware of what is expected when they return to class. One of my students who does not have a printer at home was able to complete his project for Black History Month and print out the necessary documents and finish his poster before it was even due in class. I can't wait to see the endless possibilities my students will come up with to use the printer in our classroom.”

Funded Dec 31, 2017I cannot thank you enough for your generosity when you donated to my classroom. My students love all our new goodies. Every day we use more of our new resources .Right now ,since we are getting extremely close to our state testing, we are using the plastic sleeves to hold our formula sheets. During testing the students are not permitted to write on the sheets. Another way we use our plastic sleeves is to complete math problems and then we don't' need to use an additional sheet of paper for completion. These sleeves are saving my classroom from making many photo copies. We used the sleeves for finding the mean, median, mode, range of a set of data and once we found that information we were able to construct a box and whiskers plot. Students enjoyed the sleeves and being able to use the new dry erase markers to go with them. We also use the dry erase boards in small groups to show our thinking and also for group work to compare our ideas. My students also are enjoying the Scholastic Must Know math books. They get to use the books when their work is complete for enrichment of the skills that they already know. We will be using the books during state testing to reinforce what we know while being able to have a little (shhh) fun.
My students were quite curious to what all the boxes were when I had them carry them up to my classroom. I would open one box at a time and they were totally amazed that a company would donate to a classroom that they don't even know. My students were eager to use the materials as soon as we opened all the boxes. Something about new resources keeps the student's attention in class. It felt like Christmas and every student got a gift.
Again, these resources have helped me with my classroom so much. I'm able to use less paper and have my students still solve problems in detail. The white boards are amazing since now I have one for every student and during my lessons, they are able to hold the board up and I am able to see if they have the correct answer or at least are understanding the materials that are being taught.
Thank you again for your generosity and just know that all the material is being put to good use.”
