  • Help My Students Apply to College!

    Funded Jul 12, 2019

Thank you so much for your incredible generosity towards my project. The computers that we have received have been absolutely instrumental in the college application process. The students now have the ability to type and research their colleges and applications, as well as typing their personal college essays, resumes, and supplemental questions with ease, rather than having to using their cell phones or having to roam from classroom to classroom to try to see if a teacher has a computer that they can use for the period. Thank you to your contributions, they will all have a much higher chance of success in college and beyond.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cuevas

  • Music for Application Season!

    Funded May 15, 2019

Thank you so much for your meaningful contribution towards my project.

When I first brought out the record player and records, my students were immediately excited. They started playing the records during lunch and their college advisory period, where they are researching and completing college related tasks while listening to music.

The students enjoy coming in, grabbing a computer and taking turns playing their favorite songs. It according to them, makes them feel more like a college student, as they now envision themselves doing work in a setting that they have never been used to having.

Having this record player has truly turned a stressful experience to a positive and relaxing one. It has been a truly joyous experience for us all.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cuevas

  • Help My Students Stay Organized!

    Funded Sep 23, 2019

Thank you so much for your generosity and support! Even though it may seem like a small detail, having USBs available to our students will allow them to keep all of their college materials organized and in one place. This will certainly allow them to work on their college application from anywhere. Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cuevas

As the college counselor, I meet with students weekly beginning in 11th grade to begin discussing all aspects of the college application process, including creating a college list, drafting a resume and researching financial aid options. As out students enter their Senior year, they are now faced with the challenge of submitting their college and scholarship applications. Since most college applications are done online, my students struggle with accessing the technology necessary in order to complete them. Many of my students do not have the technology at home that allows them to submit their college applications. As a result, they spend countless hours during and after school working on their applications and other components in the college office. My students use music as an outlet to not only express themselves but to destress as they work on important tasks regarding their college and future goals. Having this record player would allow my students to have that comforting outlet in my office as they go through the college application process, giving them a sense of comfort and safety that they would appreciate when working on stressful tasks.
