Last year we used materials in our classroom that I purchased using my own funds. Most of our students live in low-income housing and their families can not afford simple school supplies, such as notebooks and pencils. The products that I selected will allow my students additional support across the curriculum throughout the school year. We will use notebooks daily for vocabulary, ELA writing, drawing pictures for better understanding and Math practice. We will use our pencils and sharpener all day, every day, for all subjects. Also, we will use our clipboard when we gather on our rug for reading time to help us take our notes and use our graphic organizers more easily and comfortably. My students are all English Language Learners and are incredibly eager to learn everything they can, despite their challenges.
