So why mini iPads, Osmos and the portable promethean board? Individualization!!! Currently in my classroom, I have 2 dedicated iPads for 21 kiddos. The majority of my students are not fortunate enough to receive exposure to the “latest and greatest” technology outside of school. Therefore, you can imagine the refereeing I have to do on a daily basis as I try to ensure equal exposure to technology for all. Their desire to work with this the iPads is strong! My plan is to pair the Osmos devices with my iPads. With this pairing, I will be given the versatility to individualize my teachings for each student. The Osmos allows me to set up an “account” for each student and they then are able to learn and advance on their own pace in areas of spelling, math and spatial awareness. Because a good number of my students come from Spanish speaking homes, the need for this individualization is pertinent as they all are overcoming the challenges of a new language, but again, at various paces. Lastly, I would be using the portable promethean board to help with the more hands on approach to my classroom style. Because my students are so young, their attention spans are quite short. By having them interact more with me during lessons will help them grasp their learnings that much faster. Plus, learning becomes fun, and we all know that instilling attitude will take them far in life! Thanks you for your time and consideration.
