  • Ready.. Get Set...WORK!

    Funded Oct 23, 2017

We cannot thank you enough for the generous gifts donated to our classroom. The students had such joy in their faces when we received the materials! They were very eager to start learning how to develop new job skills.

They are currently utilizing the materials throughout their on-the-job training. They have learned to become more organized during their employment. They have been taught to separate files using the file dividers. They also use the electric hole puncher to file paperwork into different folders. They learned to stay on task by using the visual time tracker. The materials donated have helped them tremendously learn new skills and how to use their leisure time appropriately.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kristen

  • Safety 101

    Funded Oct 24, 2016

My students are beyond thankful for the wonderful donations! They are improving in the area of functional life skills with the materials purchased! The items donated have been very useful in teaching skills for living life after school! The students have increased their safety awareness from all of the functional safety items purchased. In addition, they have learned survival skills from the survival vocabulary stories and work! It has been such a great help using the tools provided to teach the students in a more effective way!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kristen

  • The Working Life

    Funded Nov 20, 2015

The students are making amazing strides due to the materials bought from this project! I was able to create real life scenarios using the manipulatives from DonorsChoose! The students were able to identify healthy food options using the pretend food. They also learned to create different recipes using the food as a guide.

The students were very excited the first time they saw the materials. The materials are helping them to generalize real life scenarios. They are able to learn different tasks using the items given.

With the items that have been donated, we are taking it to the next step by using real objects. They start off by learning with the various manipulatives that have been purchased. Now, they are ready to begin their adventure in the real world!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kristen

  • Science Time

    Funded Oct 7, 2013

We wanted to start off by thanking you for your generosity in supplying materials to our Science class! The students were very active when utilizing the items from the project. They were more upbeat and eager to learn with all of the materials.

We are using the different items from our project list in a variety of ways. For example, we use the digital microscope to observe different specimens that we find all over our campus. The wipe off dry erase boards help us learn and show off our answers!

The materials from this project helped tremendously in our class! The students seemed to be more engaged and interested in learning new and different things! It is amazing to see how they can learn and benefit from hands-on differentiated learning! With the help of Chevron, my students were able to learn so much more in Science!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kristen

The Middle School students that attend the Charter School that I work for have been diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). They attend a specialized school setting for only students on the spectrum. The school was designed to help those individuals that needs more intensive instruction in the areas of communication, behaviors, and self-help skills. Their disability alone is challenging enough, therefore, it is my job as their teacher to help guide them and differentiate each lesson to tailor to their individual needs. They learn through a multi-sensory approach and need a lot of modifications and accommodations to their curriculum.
