All of the students we work with have been assigned an individual therapist to work on social-emotional skills. We work together to build safe attachment/connections, to practice different skills, like identifying and responding to emotions and thoughts, and building on a positive sense of self. By helping, you are contributing to developing key skills--for all children--but especially those who have had many experiences of loss, trauma, and challenge. These supplies will be used in therapy spaces in order to have vibrant and diverse tools to use in session and to explore their sense of self and ability to care for themselves. Snacks are useful to establish routines, provide for basic needs, and make the children feel cared for. Music and art tools (like the modeling clay, the rhythm makers, and masks) are helpful in providing means for children to be connected to their environments, to themselves, and to others. These tools will be available to explore and build on different aspects of self. Sensory tools, like the objects with light and different sensations, can be grounding for children and can be used to build on a felt sense of connection to their bodies and to the world. Thank you for your help!
