Students will create an invention that other students want to buy. The materials chosen will be assigned a cost per item. Students will solve a student want or need by creating an item out of pipe cleaners, yarn, rubber bands, paper clips, popsicle sticks, paint or card board. They will draw diagram of the finished gadget. As they build, they must keep track of costs incurred and then add 7% sales tax and a 20% profit margin. They will then create a commercial to perform in front of the class to sell their product. The students will be given $20 to spend and will choose which items they would like to buy. They will use the play money to create change for their sales. The most sought after gadgets will be featured on our school televised announcements!
