Ready, Set...Print!

Funded Mar 22, 2019

Thank you again for donating toward a color printer & scanner for my art classroom. This technology is helping my students learn and appreciate art in numerous ways. They are now able to scan their artwork and print it out. We have been able to make cards using their artwork as the cover image. They are so excited to give these cards to their loved ones that showcase their hard work in the art classroom. The printer/scanner will also be useful in allowing the students to print out their digital art in order to show their families what they have been working on in their art class. Sometimes students do not have access to the internet or the apps we use in school.

Using the scanner & printer will allow the students to physically share their hard work with other's outside the school building. Another way the printer has been useful is in printing images of artworks for the students to analyze. This way they can get a closer, more detailed look at the artwork in order to draw meaning and inspiration from all types of artworks. What is most exciting to the students about the printer/scanner so far has been their ability to scan and print their artwork on different materials. The have been able to duplicate their artwork this way so they can make gifts or just a print-out showcasing their hard work & creativity. We utilized the printer in order to make our thank you cards to give to our donors. The students were so excited to see their paintings printed on the front of a greeting card.

So far, the printer/scanner has helped 2 of my biggest populations of students, students with disabilities and English language learners. For the students with disabilities, they are excited to see their artwork printed in a way that allows them to share it with their family. They have also been impressed with the quality of the printer telling me how clear their artwork looks. For the English language learners, they have been able to get translated handouts using words and images to better help them learn the English language in the art room. I can see them understanding the lesson quicker when they have their own printed copy of images and translations.

Thank you again for donating to my project for my students. The impact so far has been impressive. I look forward to using the printer with my students in the years to come.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Rella
