Funded Jan 20, 2019We have had the opportunity to delve into some activities surrounding "I Can Do Hard Things." We have also been using "A Long Walk to Water" to make connection with social, economic, and religious structures in different the parts of the world.
Our class started with "I Can Do Hard Things". As a result of our explorations, we identified, and have been practicing positive affirmations to ourselves and to our peers. My children have been made aware that they have the power to control their own emotions, despite the circumstances in their environment. Everyone came up with strategies, as well as their own affirmation statements that encourage mindfulness.
"A Long Walk to Water" has provided my children with a deeper understanding of American values.
The greatest impact of these books as of now, is the fact that they have broaden the scope of my students' thinking. They are making inferences, considering and asking questions inspired by the content of these materials. I am confident that we are on our way toward a global mindset! Thanks again.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Brown
