  • Motivating Math Minds, One at a Time!

    Funded Mar 19, 2012

Thank you so much for supporting me in my quest to bring technology into my mathematics classroom. I am certain that the computer will be an excellent motivating tool. My students are working quicker than I have seen all year. No longer will we have to worry, if we can get the laptops or not.

I love when I hear the excitement in their voices, "Look at how big the screen is!", " I love the touch screen." My favorite statement was when one of the student's said to another, "Can you believe that people really gave money so that we could get these computers."

THank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I totally appreciate it.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Calano

  • Motivating Math Minds

    Funded Feb 1, 2012

Thank you all so much for your generous donations. My classes have started to use the new computer when they earn a set amount of points. I now have a running list of earned computer time for many of my students. Most of my students do not have the opportunity to go on the Internet at home. They really are enjoying knowing they have a computer always available in the classroom. I already see an improvement in how quickly they start their work and how much work they accomplish.

Computers are truly a motivational tool in my classes.Thank you once more!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Calano

"DO WE REALLY HAVE TO DO MATH AGAIN TODAY". This is what I hear from my students who have special needs on a daily basis. They walk into the class and want no part of doing Math. On those special days when we can schedule to use the computer cart (that is shared with 8 other classes), my students become completely different learners. They are willing to open their minds and are motivated to complete the assignments. There are little to no behavior problems. It is amazing what a little technology will do for motivation. Many of my students do not have computers or the Internet in their homes. My middle school 7th and 8th graders are falling further behind their peers.
