Literacy Through STEM
Funded Dec 27, 2021Since receiving the books, I have introduced math and science concepts through books before starting the new units. This has been a very engaging way for students to grasp what we will be learning about and also, relate it to everyday life.
Some of the skills or lessons introduced by these new texts have been fractions, measurement, multiplication, division, scientific thinking and engineering.
Although I teach math and science, I am a big proponent of students incorporating reading into every subject. Reading takes place very often in my classroom. Not only do I include it at the beginning of a new unit, I allow my students to read the books on the unit we are studying when assessments or classwork has been completed.
Particular students are especially enjoying the new books and love seeing how it relates to our daily lives. Thank you so much for providing my students the opportunity to have these books in their classroom.”

Innovative Learning Up Close
Funded Aug 12, 2019Your donation has been put to very good use. Students were super excited to see we had a brand new HUE Document Camera and Sound buzzers for our team review games.
As soon as I opened the buzzer box to show them how we would integrate them into our team building / math/ science review games. they wanted to use them right away! When technology is integrated into my lessons, students stay engaged longer and enjoy the activity at hand- whether it be presenting a project or reviewing for a test.
The HUE document camera has been a great addition to the classroom when modeling to students how to create a project or interactive notebook assignment. They have also used it to present their projects. The class can see their assignment and the presenter can read from it simultaneously. It has provided students ownership over their work.It has been a great way to facilitate the understanding of the content or project at hand.
The buzzers have been a great addition to science and social study review games. Giving them friendly competition has kept them engaged and WANTING to study content. As a result, students have scored better on assessments.
As this school year progresses, I will continue to think of ways to incorporate our new technology in different ways . I am positive that the different activities that can be created with both the HUE camera and sound buzzers will engage my students and enrich their future learning.
Thanks for your generosity."”
