Teaching middle schoolers can be a daunting task. That is why hands-on manipulatives are so important at this age. Giving students the ability to use real-world material to understand difficult science concepts is key. Creating an environment where the students can be hands-on and relate to the real world will get them engaged. Engaged students create active, problem-solving classrooms. An environment where students think outside the box and solve real world problems through active learning. My classroom is about engaging the students in the learning and trying to understand the real world actions. The students will have the opportunity to look at chemical models, how atoms are connected, lattice of components to understand the difference between carbon, graphite, sodium chloride and ice lattice including their different bonds.. They will also have the opportunity to understand the double helix of DNA.
