Help Us Become Reading Rockstars!
Funded May 27, 2021My students are all English Language Learners working hard on acquiring English, while simultaneously learning to read and write. These books will assist my students with gaining crucial fiction and nonfiction literacy skills, directly aligned to what we're working on in class. My students can take these books home to discuss with their families, while building essential language and literacy skills. These books will help them grow their phonics skills as well, and in turn, assist them with becoming stronger readers and writers. This will help students reach their reading goals!
In my classroom, I support and encourage students to take risks, try new things, and grow as readers and learners. I encourage students to find reading material they connect with and enjoy reading. We work on understanding and discussing books. We talk about the characters and plot of fiction books and learn facts about history and animals in nonfiction books. I support students on their reading journey, by providing individualized instruction directly tied to student needs. We also work on phonemic awareness, and use books to learn phonics.
My students love these new books. They connect with the characters and plot, and these books have really made them excited about reading. Thank you again for your generosity!”

Reaching Our Reading Goals!
Funded Dec 1, 2020My students love the new games and materials purchased through the project. These phonics and literacy games have helped them acquire crucial phonemic awareness skills to become lifelong readers. These materials help make learning fun! This is so important when working with children in Kindergarten and First Grade.
My students particularly love the Lakeshore Letter Crayon game. They are always so excited to use the crayons to create CVC words and tap out the corresponding sounds. When they first saw these materials, they got so excited! They love playing games, and integrating games into learning is so important. As a teacher of young students, I try to make learning fun for kids, so they are motivated to learn.
I would love for my students to become fluent readers and writers, and these games and materials will help them accomplish these goals. Thank you for contributing to this crucial cause. Your assistance is greatly appreciated!”

This classroom project was brought to life by FamilyAlbum and 4 other donors. We Are Readers!
Funded Jun 9, 2020Thank you for much for your contributions to my project! Your donations have enabled my students to get brand new books to practice their reading skills. This will develop students' literacy skills and foster a lifelong love of reading. My students were so excited to receive their new books, and could not wait to begin reading! They were thrilled to discuss the characters and storylines with their siblings and friends. Reading and discussing books helps enhance reading comprehension skills (understanding what we read), something we work on at school as well. Many of my students do not have books at home, and so it was especially exciting for them to receive new books to keep at home.
It is so crucial for all students, English Language Learners in particular, to have access to high-quality books at home. All students should have the ability to read at home, to improve academics and for pleasure. Thank you again for donating to my project. Your generosity has made a difference in the lives of so many children.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Wacholder
