  • A Little SPOT to Teach Social Emotional Learning

    Funded Aug 22, 2023

Thank you so much for funding my project. It has allowed me to create a safe inviting space for my students to participate in SEL groups as well as some brief individual counseling. They love the relaxing vibe with bean bag chairs vs the desk and table we had in prior years. Students are always asking to come to the group room when they need space or time to process. It has become one of their safe havens...thank you for helping me create this for my students. I have uploaded some before and after photos though they don't do the transformation justice.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. McGann

  • Social Emotional Learning: The Future of Education

    Funded Nov 17, 2019

Thank you sooo much!! Truly, there is not enough thank you's. To log in today and see that my project was fully funded was amazing! To see that friends/family, and strangers, alike want to support my students fills my heart with joy. When I took this position there was few resources in my office. I knew I wanted to engage students in social emotional learning in a fun way. After receiving resources from my first project I learned you can never have enough variety of resources as my students have various learning styles, skill level, and range from pre-school age to 8th grade. Thank you for helping me build my resources so I can reach all students!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. McGann

  • Social Emotional Learning: The Future of Education

    Funded Jan 19, 2019

Thank you so much for funding my project. The kids were so excited to enter my office and see all the resources received to enhance their social emotional learning. Each week I see them in the hallway and they ask what we are using for social skills group that week. They love coming into my office and getting to choose the resource we utilize that week. Outside providers, and other staff in the building, have utilized the resources to do small learning groups in class. I can literally see their little brains turning trying to figure out how to problem solve, and develop teamwork skills. I cannot thank you enough for supporting my project and putting huge smiles on my students faces.”

    With gratitude,

My imagination already sees these books, games, stress reduction activities, etc. in our Guidance Suite and the number of students they can benefit. I can see the impact they would have not only for use by me, the Social Worker, but for our Guidance Counselor, the multitude of therapist that come into the school to see students, and teachers who wish to utilize them in their classrooms. With these books, and games, we will be able to engage students in a fun and interactive way to help with social-emotional learning. Items like My Feelings game, Anger Control Game, etc will help younger students learn how to manage their feelings and frustration. Items like Empowering Questions Cards and Conversation Cubes will allow the older students to engage and open-up about struggles in their lives in order to learn healthy coping mechanisms. By donating to our project, you will be providing the school with various resources: Anger Management workbook, CBT Toolbook, My Mood flipbook to help students identify emotions, Conversation Cubes, and much more which will be crucial in helping student develop the attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. You will be helping our students build the skills so they can be positive, engaged, members of society.
