Teaching in a low income community without many resources greatly impacts my ability as a teacher to provide my students with the tools they need to be successful in the classroom. It is my desire to provide my students with resources and tools that will motivate and engage them in learning to write while cultivating a love of writing as a means to express themselves. In 1st grade we really begin to develop good writing skills. During our Language Arts time, I meet with small groups to help them develop their writing. The dry erase teaching easel will allow me to model how to write and edit sentences as well as how to write a good paragraph. By attaching a pocket chart to the other side of the easel, I can easily display vocabulary cards so my students can incorporate them into their writing. By providing an inviting space for my students to write, they will be motivated to fine tune and strengthen their writing skills. This project will help my students become independent writers. Please help me develop the love of writing in my 1st grade classroom!
