Computers to Support Students!

First and foremost thank you for your generosity and support. Prior to receiving these computers, we were borrowing extremely old computers from other teachers' classrooms. All of which were running with extremely slow processing speeds, and most of the computers were missing essential components, such as keys, and parts of their exterior. It sometimes took up an entire class period simply trying to turn on the computer and open an application. Instead, students were typing on their cell phones (if they had access to one).

With the new Chromebooks, my students' class time has been used more efficiently. They recently completed a playwriting unit where they adapted children's stories into scripts and then presented their plays to our Middle School Students. In past writing aI did not have to extend due dates because of the lack of functioning technology. For this project students used Google Docs, a comparable program to Microsoft Word, but, it automatically saves work and allows me to track students' individual progress and contribution to group efforts. It allows me to directly comment on student work and make suggestions and edits. It basically has acted as a tool to keep each student accountable.”
