  • New Year, New Headphones!

    Thank you so much for your generosity to our classroom fund for new headphones!

    This couldn't have happened at a better time for us. Just as we were getting ready to take our reading and math diagnostics on our laptops, these came in! Students were so engaged and full concentration!

    Having these headphones is making learning more fun and less distracting. Students are eager to grab headphones and begin working. I'm so happy to have these in our room and accessible for all students to use and feel successful with.”

  • Non-Fiction Books for Eager Readers!

    My students and I are so very thankful for the generous donation to our class Library. This year, we lacked many non-fiction books across all reading levels. Non-fiction books have always been important to student growth in both reading and writing; it has also been my favorite unit to teach. I was worried that I would not have an exciting library to foster curiosities, make real world connections and enhance student experiences and interests. Thanks to your kindness, our baskets are overflowing with topics. One of my students read all about Orca whales and it became his favorite book! He was able to use all the knowledge he acquired from a book in our library to write a 5-page nonfiction writing book about Orca Whales! The excitement my students have when book shopping is priceless. They are building up their reading stamina and have moved reading levels. I even hear them recommend texts to each other!

  • We Love to Read! Library Books in Need!

    My students and I are so very thankful for the generous donation to our class library. This year, we had many students enter our class below grade level. Unfortunately, we had no books in our baskets that supported our new A, B and C learners. I spent a lot of time printing books at home (on my personal color printer) just to give them what they needed. When my students would see them in the basket, they were not excited about reading.

    Just visualize the faces when they saw their reading baskets overflowing with books! It was such a wonderful moment watching students look at the covers and try to decide what books to choose from because there were so many. With that said, it's been fulfilling noticing what students are taking away from their new books. We are seeing a shift in reading stamina and levels all because they're eager to read in school and home as well. We thank you for believing in our project and making a difference in student learning.”

  • Sight Word Center Fun!

    We all can't thank you enough for your generosity towards our project! My students need daily practice of sight words to build their vocabulary and phonemic awareness as sight words are essential during the early foundation of reading.

    I found that simple paper and crayons were becoming less motivating each morning. It was important to add these hands-on materials to our center for engagement and stamina. Every day I see the excitement on my students face as they get to see what center their table will do that morning. They love that each day they have an opportunity to do a new center and with that, they are never bored and always leave the end of each center period feeling successful. Thank you for helping my students love sight word center time. My co-teacher and I have noticed an increase in sight word knowledge all thanks to these amazing manipulatives! I can't wait to see more student progression as we approach the end of our school year!”
