Please help my kids get tablets that will help them in their scientific learning. My kids go to school in a very poor county in NC, Duplin County; 92% of our students qualify for free/reduced meals and we are consistently classified as a Title 1 school. I would LOVE to opportunity to introduce technology into my chemistry classes and allow students to do "virtual labs" that are required by the state of NC. I teach at James Kenan High School, in Warsaw, NC. Unfortunately we don't have the funding to do to the "hands on" labs that the state requires us to do. I do my best to keep my already inquisitive students interested by doing "virtual labs" myself and allowing them to watch. My kids would LOVE to be able to do these labs themselves. They are already an intelligent group, but I know that by being able to do these interactive labs themselves they would be more engaged and be more successful in my classes. More importantly, I hope to increase the passion for science in a group of students who are already underserved! By receiving 10 tablets, I would be able to assign my students to "lab groups" of 3-4 students each, for them to complete "virtual labs" required by the state of NC. Not only would I appreciate it, because it would help my students excel further in my classes, but I know my students would benefit because it would greatly increase their excitement for science.
