Thank you so much for your generosity! Your donation will have a lasting impact on students at Patterson Park Public Charter School. My reading groups will have access to materials that will make learning to read fun and engaging. Reading is a skill that they will use for a lifetime!”

  • Literacy Lending Library

    Funded May 5, 2023

Thank you so much for your donation to the PPPCS Literacy Lending Library. This project has made such a powerful impact on my students. Their eyes light up every time they see all of the incredible literacy games and activities to choose from. They are so excited to take home activities that are tailored to their literacy needs. Some students have been practicing their alphabet skills, others have been honing their rhyming skills, and others have been focused on sounding out words. All of these skills come together to create lifelong readers who are thrilled to be able to interact with much-needed literacy activities at home.

I cannot wait to continue seeing the impact of this project on our students in grades K-2. It is invaluable to be able to match activities to student needs and to be able to scaffold those activities as students' skills increase. We will continue using these materials for years to come and are forever grateful for your generosity.”

  • Diverse Books for Diverse Readers

    Funded Dec 14, 2018

My students are gaining so much valuable information from the variety of books donated through this project! My goal was to introduce books to our classroom that would reflect the diversity of cultures and interests of my kids. They are learning about cultures that are similar to and very different from their own. Books are a way to create windows and mirrors into the world around us--these books do just that. I'm overjoyed that this project has provided so many important and meaningful learning opportunities for my kids.

These books are also an opportunity for choice within my classroom. Students benefit from opportunities to choose books that are of interest to them. This helps foster a love of reading and learning that is crucial during the elementary years. In my classroom, we love to read! I can't fully express my gratitude for your contribution to this exciting project, but please know that your donation is making a significant impact in my classroom. My kids and I are so grateful for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kaplan

My students gain more and more confidence with reading each day. As their confidence grows, I'd love to surround them with books that reflect their diverse backgrounds and interests. Some of the books included in my dream library list are about children from Mexico, just like many of my students. All of the books contain important lessons for young people that challenge them to think beyond their own experiences. These diverse books will help encourage a love of reading that will follow my students throughout their lives. They will grow as readers, learners, and observers of the world as they delve into new and exciting books. My students will be able to choose books that they are interested in and further their love of reading.
