Mentor Text: A Model for Young Writers

I truly want to thank you for your kind gift. The mentor texts books have arrived and I've been able to use them with the students at my school. The students love to imitate good authors and they try apply what they've learned to their own writing pieces. The students really appreciate the books as well; they immediately snuggled up with a few of the books and got lost in the great stories.

My students are elementary students from a Title I school in Georgia. They are all very eager to learn and are very talented in the area of writing. Writing is a focus at my school and the children are stepping up to the challenge! Every year more and more students are exceeding on the state standardized writing test. We want to keep them encourage so we use mentor texts as a model. The children use the mentor texts to imitate good writing and try new craft moves.
