In our Reggio-Emilia inspired, Pre-K For All program, we use play as a way of developing our students' learning. The Dramatic Play Center is a crucial part of that play. It's where students work with each other to develop stories and act them out. While doing this the students are building upon the important 21st-century skills they will need to succeed later in life, such as collaborating with peers, problem-solving, creative thinking, taking initiative, adaptability and so much more! Right now my students are limited by the materials we currently have. We have 1 costume (a chef), so we have only been playing restaurant/cooking at home. The materials I am asking for will help my students to develop the love of learning that will help them succeed in their educational careers as they continue on to the higher grades. By providing my students with the career and multi-cultural costumes you would be expanding their imagination and creating so many more possibilities that they may not have known before. They would not just be introduced to new cultures from around the world, but be able to act it out by using the multi-cultural costumes. New careers they haven't seen before can be explored as they pretend to be a pilot or astronaut. Through play, their world can open up.
