This project is needed for my athletes who run hundreds of miles a season, but don't have the appropriate equipment to manage their ankle and knee stability without the use of heavy weights. My approach to training is heavily based on rehabilitation, which is necessary if I want my runners to engage in activity over a lifetime. As with any education system, the goal is for the runners to be able to carry their knowledge into their adult lives, and they therefore must develop habits that focus on injury prevention for the long haul. These stability balls will help me educate them on proper balance and joint health, which applies to more than just runners, but to all areas of life. These balance balls will also be used in my PE classroom for students who are learning how to care for their bodies over a lifetime.
