  • A Lively Chemistry Classroom

    Funded Dec 6, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom with these hands on chemistry sets. Having these kits makes it easier for my students to visualize the formation and breakage of molecular bonds in a fun and relevant way. Chemistry can be abstract for many students and they have a tendency to memorize formulas and plug in numbers to do the calculations without actually understanding the full underlying concepts. They love mixing chemicals and seeing the resulting color, temperature and mass differences, and this helps them to visualize and understand the chemical bonds. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

  • Snacks From Different Cultures

    Funded Feb 21, 2023

Thank you so much for supporting this project for assorted Asian snacks. Food is a great way to introduce different cultures to each other. We all need to eat and tasting different flavor profiles from the herbs and spices used in various cultures is a great starting point in exploring our differences and our commonalities. These kawaii products will be sure hits with my students. Thank you for helping to expand their horizon by giving them a glimpse into another world. I hope it piques their curiosity and encourages them to continue exploring.”

  • Folders For Organization

    Funded Oct 12, 2023

Thank you for funding our project for folders. These supplies will ensure that all my students have the basic materials they need to complete their school work. Folders are not high tech or extremely expensive items, but not having them can make for crumpled, misplaced, and lost note sheets. This results in lack of reference material to refer to when studying for tests. Sometimes students need some extra support with organizational skills. It is great to have a ready supply of these materials to hand out when students need them. We appreciate of your generous support.”

  • Wrigglers For Healthy Plants

    Funded May 22, 2023

Thank you for these wrigglers. I look forward to adding them to our garden soil. They feed primarily on organic material in soils, eating fresh and decaying material from plant roots, including crops like corn and soybeans. As they feed, they move and mix their waste with the soil in a moist, microbe-rich environment. Earthworm tunnels bring in oxygen, drain water and create space for plant roots. I hope we will be able to grow many healthy plants this summer. Fresh garden vegetables may entice my students to eat more healthily.”

I would like to wire up financial literacy with circuitry, using modular battery holders, D batteries, alligator clips and light bulbs. My students will create a class sized circuit to be used in conjunction with the Banking Edition of Monopoly. They will create 3D store fronts of Atlantic Avenue, B & O Railroad, Baltic Avenue, Boardwalk, Connecticut Avenue, Electric Company, Illinois Avenue, Indiana Avenue, Kentucky Avenue, Marvin Gardens, Mediterranean Avenue, New York Avenue, North Carolina Avenue, Pacific Avenue, Park Place, Pennsylvania Avenue, Pennsylvania Railroad, Reading Railroad, Short Line, St. Charles Place, St. James Place, States Avenue, Tennessee Avenue, Ventnor Avenue, Vermont Avenue, Virginia Avenue, and Water Works. These streets, railroad stations and storefronts will be created using recycled cardboard wired up with lights using the batteries, modular battery holders and alligator clips. The banker will dictate moves using the Kano Harry Potter Coding Kit. My students will learn how to allocate resources based on their budget. Financial literacy is a life skill that is too often neglected. All students should be introduced to budgeting basics at a young age so they can incorporate these money management strategies into their everyday lives. We live in a world of finite resources, whether our resources are cash, credit, or energy.
