The majority of the students in my classroom are low-economic students, meaning that they simply do not have access to the modern day technologies that many students have to enhance their learning. Therefore, I try to include technology as much as I can in my instruction and in their assignments. However, this does present a problem at times. Our classroom presently has 3 extremely outdated computers that do not support the types of educational/learning websites that our students are readily encouraged to use. Fast paced, colorful, engaging websites are not accessible due to the incredibly slow speed of these desktop computers. Also, because we are a low-economic school system, we do not have enough class sets of Chromebooks to share. Being awarded Chromebooks will allow more of my students to have access to higher thinking education and faster technology and begin to explore and learn about places/topics/skills they have never seen before. We can also work on our typing skills as we prepare for our yearly state assessments. We can begin to research topics and develop our learning on a deeper level without having to worry about whether our computers can handle all of our students on them at the same time. We can truly take our learning to the NEXT LEVEL!
